The University of the Philippines Law Center, through the Institute of Human Rights (UP IHR), the Commission on Human Rights (CHR), and Center for International Law (CENTERLAW) has organised an academic conference to advance the discourse on human rights in the Philippines by presenting different avenues, mechanisms, and approaches to address large-scale human rights violations. The conference will host senior academics, practitioners, and experts in the fields of rule of law, international human rights law, and transitional justice to tackle current and emerging challenges as well as domestic and global trends in advancing the protection of rule of law and human rights, primarily through the lens of accountability. Participants will include policy makers, academics, students, legal professionals, human rights advocates, media practitioners and communicators, public officials and law enforcement personnel, among others.
