The conference allows lawyers and journalists from South East Asia to share their experiences on legal threats to freedom of speech, as well as strengthen their capacity to defend themselves from such threats.

Participants from Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and East Timor are expected to build on the results of the 1st South East Asia Media Defense Litigation Conference held in Hong Kong on May 21-23, 2007.

The South East Asia Media Legal Defense Network is the first regional network of lawyers and media advocates dedicated to the defense of a free media in South East Asia and the training of legal professionals for that purpose.

The seminar was held at the Crown Regency Hotel & Tower at Fuente Osmena, Cebu City, Philippines.#
